Islamophobia isn’t racism. Islam isn’t a race.
Doesn’t matter that I can’t tell apart from Salim from Rajesh – they both look Muslim to me.
Doesn’t matter that both Salim’s and Rajesh’s security checks last longer than usual- what’s a little humiliation for the sake of national security?
Or that the bloke speaking Arabic on the phone offended me enough to berate him and complain to the authorities – because all Arabs are Muslim and all Muslims are Arab.
Islam isn’t a race. So what if only Brown people are deemed a threat to national security ?
Islamophobia is not even a thing!
It is a term coined to shut down legitimate criticism of a religion- the only monotheistic religion in existence to have ever been used as a political tool, the ONLY religion to have ever been misinterpreted by extremists for their own personal gains, the ONLY religion to have ever been skewed by patriarchal interpretations.
Watch me blow you away with my knowledge of Islam that I copy-pasted from multiple hate sites dedicated to compiling out of context Quran verses and blatant lies.
Cheer me on as I urge my Muslim countrymen to “go back where they came from”- doesn’t matter that we’re all citizens of the same country we call home and probably share the same favorite burger franchise and TV series.
There you go calling me a bigot again!
How am I a bigot? Political correctness is destroying the world! I’m just saying that They come from an inferior, backwards ass culture that has no place in society today!
How am I bigot? I just don’t believe They deserve a safe haven after fleeing war.
How am I bigot? I just lump the global Muslim population into a single group with a single collective hive mind. Doesn’t matter that they are of different races and cultures, speak different languages, have diverse sets of beliefs, belong to different sects and different schools of thoughts and disagree on various aspects of theology.
How am I bigot? I just tell Muslims whining about Islamophobia to STFU. Because being angered by radical Islamist terrorists and caring about the repercussions faced by innocent Muslims are two mutually exclusive things. It never strikes me that the majority of Muslims probably have to fear violence from both, radical Islamists and raging Islamophobes.
How am I a bigot? I’m not saying ALL Muslims are bad, I just expect Them to apologize for and stop violence perpetuated due to geo-political conflicts that have nothing to do with them.
Why won’t Indonesian Muslim school teachers apologize for 9/11?!
Why won’t Indian Muslim scientists apologize for the Paris attacks?
Why won’t Ethiopian Muslim grandmothers apologize for the Mumbai attacks?
Why don’t you fools get it?! Islam isn’t a race, so I’m not being racist!
It’s not like Islam has been racialized by the media and world leaders to such extent that only people who look a certain way end up suffering the effects of Islamophobia.
It’s not like the White bearded hipster sporting shades and a beanie isn’t subjected to random humiliating security checks, while the Brown bearded hipster sporting shades and a beanie unfailingly is.
Or that she is spat on and has her headscarf pulled at, but her blonde, blue-eyed husband doesn’t have to deal with prejudice…
…wait, a White Muslim?! Brain cannot compute. Muslims can’t be White. Islam isn’t a race.
Islamophobia isn’t even a thing. It is a term coined to shut down legitimate criticism of a fascist ideology.
The legitimate criticism of the fascist ideology by concerned, objective people without any ulterior motive.
The legitimate criticism of the fascist ideology purely for the sake of intellectual discussion. Not to sell books. Not to make money. Not for the sake of winning an election. No ulterior motive here.
It was the legitimate criticism of a fascist ideology that led to the massacre of Sikhs at their place of worship
(Not being able tell apart Sikhs from those damned Moozlem terrorists isn’t racism. Because Islam isn’t a race, obviously).
Islam isn’t a race. Islamophobia isn’t racism. Islamophobia isn’t even a thing.
Note: I’ve always felt a bit uncomfortable discussing Islamophobia because of the eye-rolls it incites due to the perceived persecution complex Muslims are often accused of suffering from, but it’s getting harder and harder to ignore it. I believe that, like all religions, Islam should be up for discussion, even if I don’t like what is being said. But I am concerned by how socially acceptable it is becoming to justify hatred and racism against Muslims by pretending it’s something else. Reducing Muslims to crude caricatures and dehumanizing them doesn’t contribute anything to any kind of intellectual discourse- yes, even if you conclude your hate speech with “Islam isn’t a race, so I’m not being racist!”.
